PhD in Media and Communication, Coventry University
MA Documentary Practice, University of Bristol
BA (Hons) Film Studies, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
I am a Lecturer in Media Production in the School of Media and Performing Arts at Coventry University, working at the intersection of interactive/immersive technologies and Critical Media Literacy. My current research explores the use of immersive technologies in media literacy, involving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the creation of Virtual Reality (VR) films.
My PhD examined the implications of introducing interactive documentary in a series of Critical Media Literacy interventions. I used Participatory Action Research and Visual Research Methods to propose a “Pedagogy of Difference 2.0”, which is a new approach to teaching and learning with interactive documentary.
I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education.
Apart from my academic practice, I have made documentary films in Greece, Cyprus and the UK, portraying various communities.
